COLUMBUS, Ohio The Student-Alumni Council (SAC) is proud to announce that ten of its members have been selected to the 2007 Ohio State Homecoming Court.  These members include:  Amanda Alvarez, Alyssa Bernhofer, Molly Bradway, Holly Coats, Raj Nair, Natalie Mehl, Reid Rice, Luis Sanchez, Nicole Staples, and Matt Van Jura.

The Homecoming Court consists of 24 distinguished students who have made a great contribution to the University.  During Welcome Week, each Homecoming Court member attended events including the welcoming of incoming freshmen at Convocation.  They will also attend several events throughout Homecoming Week and serve as hosts and ambassadors during these events.

The Homecoming King and Queen will be announced at the football game versus Michigan State, which will take place at 3:30pm EST on Saturday, October 20, 2007.  The winning candidate’s selection will be based on a combined score of their application, interview and student votes. Since 1921, the Homecoming Court has had the distinguished pleasure of playing an integral part of Homecoming Week and its festivities. Originally, fraternities, sororities, and other organizations nominated students from within their respective organizations.  Today, any undergraduate who has completed at least 90 credit hours by the beginning of Autumn Quarter and maintained a 2.5 cumulative grade point average may apply.

The Student Alumni Council congratulates SACer Luis Sanchez as the 2007 Homecoming King. Luis is a senior from Santa Paula, California, studying Sociology and Criminology. Luis has been an active member in many organizations across campus including, Student Alumni Council, Sphinx Senior Class Honorary, Bucket and Dipper Junior Class Honorary, Alpha Psi Lambda, International Affairs Scholars, and University Ambassadors. When asked what being a Buckeye meant to him, Luis responded saying “Tradition, honor, and excellence; being a Buckeye means proudly exemplifying these traits in one’s everyday life. The spirit of Ohio State thrives through the community that embraces the University’s ideals of scholarship and service. As a student, I have benefited greatly from this institution and it is my obligation to give back to the fullest of my capacity. Being a Buckeye means taking pride in being part of something special. Individually we bring our diverse qualities to Ohio State but collectively we represent an institution that fosters friendship and bonds to our alma mater.”

The Student Alumni Council congratulates SACer Natalie Mehl as the 2007 Homecoming Queen. Natalie is a senior from Belpre, Ohio, studying strategic communications. Her dedication to the university has included her involvement in Student Alumni Council, FYE Connections Team, John Glenn Civic Leadership Council, Orientation Leader, and WBSN/10TV intern. When asked what being a Buckeye meant to her, Natalie responded saying “Being a Buckeye is about being a part of a family. It means knowing that wherever life may take you, you’ll never have to leave your family, because someone from Ohio State will always be wherever you are. It’s about knowing that no matter how old you are or how long you’ve been gone, when you come to campus you will always feel like you are coming home. Being a part of this amazing family means upholding traditions and passing them along to new generations of Buckeyes so that the magic of Ohio State will never be forgotten.“
