COLUMBUS, Ohio The Student-Alumni Council (SAC) helped celebrate the many accomplishments of the distinguished recipients at the Alumni Awards on Friday November 9th at the Hyatt on Capitol Square. This event spotlighted seventeen notable faculty members for their commitment to the advancement of their research and dedication to the university.  This year there were many deserving recipients including: Drs. Lonnie and Ellen Thompson honored with the “Alumni Medalist Award” for international career achievement for their work involving global warming and Dr. Mable Freeman who received the “Dan Heinlen Award” for university advocacy for her efforts in making Ohio State's first year program one of the premier FYE programs in the country. Additionally, SAC President Paul Barash awarded honorary SAC member Dr. Dana Wrensch with the “Josephine Failer Award” for service to students.

The Alumni Awards started in 1958 with the awarding of the Alumni Citizenship Award. Since then it has grown to eight awards and seventeen recipients.  The E.
