SAC HOSTS ASAP CONVENTION

COLUMBUS, Ohio –The Ohio State University Student-Alumni Council (SAC) and Association of Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) District Five hosted the ASAP Network Convention from August 9-11 in downtown Columbus at Marriot’s “The Columbus, a Renaissance Hotel”. The theme for the convention was “Imagine the Possibilities!” and more than 600 students/advisors and 88 different universities represented.
The convention was designed to teach advisors and student leaders how to enrich their organizations, learn programming techniques, gather ideas and facilitate peer networking. The special events included keynote speaker Mr. Rich Hollingsworth, an etiquette lunch with Mom Nonnie, bus shuttles to Easton, keynote speaker Pegine Echevarria, OSU campus tour, as well as a closing banquet and dance. Ohio State’s own Felix Alonso was honored at the awards banquet with the coveted “Advisor of the Year” award.
This year the co-chairs of the convention were Barbara Barash and Maryann Augustine. Their committee included:

ASAP is a program within the Council for the Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), which is an association of advancement programs that oversees more than 300 higher education institutions. ASAP is a student-run, student-lead organization with eight districts including: District 1 North Atlantic, District 2 Middle Atlantic, District 3 Southeast, District 4 Southwest, District 5 Great Lakes, District 6 Mid-America, District 7 Far West, and District 8 Pacific Northwest and Western Canada. Next year, the University of Utah and District 7 will be hosting the ASAP Network Convention in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The Student-Alumni Council is a student advancement organization dedicated to serving Ohio State students past, present, and future through the support and coordination of university and The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Inc. events. A member of the Association for Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) and its parent organization, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), SAC strives to advance The Ohio State University through programs which enhance the student experience, promote student-alumni interaction and establish a spirit of loyalty to the university.
