SACers ATTEND ASAP DISTRICT 5 CONVENTION

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The Ohio State University Student-Alumni Council (SAC) sent twenty-three members to the Association for Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) District 5 Convention in East Lansing, Michigan February 15-17th.  Throughout the weekend SAC presented on a number of topics including: "Connecting Students with the University and the Alumni Association",  "New Member Process", "Homecoming - New Trends at Universities", and "Alumni Scholars Program". This weekend was dedicated to the progression of student advancement groups and gaining valuable knowledge from other successful institutions. SAC sent a large number of participants.  Attendees included:  Josh Harraman (Advisor), Felix Alonso (Advisor Emeritus), Paul Barash, Brent Ribble, Jeff Gannon, Matt Starr, Sara Kolhoff, Jess Moser, Molly Bradway, Sachin Sharma, Matt Magyar, Laurel Horn, Sujie Kim , Matt Van Jura, Brittany O'Neill, Brittany Goad, Devin Graham, Chelsea Bostancic, Barbara Barash, Jimmy Regenniter, David MacLean, Fahad Alharbi, and Natalie Loudermilk.

Matt Van Jura was honored at the award ceremony by being recognized as “Outstanding Student Leader” for District 5. This award is given to a deserving individual who is involved on their campus, makes a dramatic impact on student advancement, and has given back to his/her respective institution. SAC congratulates Matt’s for his award and thanks him for his hard work and dedication. The award spotlighted his accomplishments in SAC and as a member of Ohio State’s Sportsmanship Council.  Matt commented on the award saying, “I am very honored to receive ASAP Outstanding Student Leader, and thankful to those who nominated me.  It was a great end to a fun weekend, meeting people, learning about new programming, and spending time with friends”.


The Student-Alumni Council is a student advancement organization dedicated to serving Ohio State students past, present, and future through the support and coordination of university and The Ohio State University Alumni Association, Inc. events.  A member of the Association for Student Advancement Programs (ASAP) and its parent organization, the Council for Advancement and Support of Education (CASE), SAC strives to advance The Ohio State University through programs which enhance the student experience, promote student-alumni interaction and establish a spirit of loyalty to the university.
